HOW, WHY AND WHEN?
The residency spaces are also places of co-creation and of encounters aimed at active citizenship – with a focus on human rights and the environment.
The occupations take place through specific partnerships with artists, professionals from various creative sectors, and governmental and non-governmental institutions. The goal is to remain in a collaborative network.
To access the space it is necessary to send the project to the specific directorate that integrates it case by case to compose its programming.
The association has strong ties with Brazil and other Portuguese-speaking countries, but is open to all nationalities and has a network of international exchanges in Latin America, Europe, the United States, and Africa.
Our association also has experienced experts (curatorial/production/management) who can support artists in their research if needed.
The space holds the following activities:

De residentieplekken zijn tevens ruimtes van co-creatie en ontmoetingen gericht op actief burgerschap, met een focus op mensenrechten en het milieu.
De bezettingen vinden plaats via specifieke partnerschappen met kunstenaars, professionals uit verschillende creatieve sectoren, en overheids- en niet-gouvernementele instellingen. Het doel is om binnen een samenwerkingsnetwerk te blijven opereren.
Om toegang te krijgen tot de ruimte is het noodzakelijk om het project naar de specifieke directie te sturen die het geval per geval integreert in zijn programmering.
De vereniging heeft sterke banden met Brazilië en andere Portugees-sprekende landen, maar staat open voor alle nationaliteiten en heeft een netwerk van internationale uitwisselingen in Latijns-Amerika, Europa, de Verenigde Staten en Afrika.
Onze vereniging beschikt ook over ervaren experts (curatoren/productiebeheerders) die kunstenaars indien nodig kunnen ondersteunen in hun onderzoek.
De ruimte biedt de volgende activiteiten:

FR//L’espace multidisciplinaire Espírito Mundo accueille des artistes plasticiens, des cinéastes, des musiciens, des performeurs, des écrivains et d’autres créateurs. Avec une superficie de 120m2, il dispose d’un support de cuisine, d’équipements audiovisuels, de mobilier et de soutien à la production.D’autres espaces communs peuvent également être utilisés selon le calendrier général, incluant la mise à disposition d’un piano pour des concerts et des performances.
Cinq associations participent à cette occupation temporaire, qui s’inscrit dans le programme de développement de la région bruxelloise et vise le développement de la zone ouest de la capitale. Un ancien entrepôt de la mairie est en train d’être transformé pour accueillir des projets à profil socio-culturel en dialogue avec la communauté.
NL//Het multidisciplinaire Espírito Mundo verwelkomt beeldend kunstenaars, filmmakers, muzikanten, performers, schrijvers en andere creatievelingen. Met een oppervlakte van 120m2 biedt het een keukenfaciliteit, audiovisuele apparatuur, meubilair en productieondersteuning. Andere gemeenschappelijke ruimtes kunnen ook worden gebruikt volgens de algemene kalender, inclusief het beschikbaar stellen van een piano voor concerten en optredens.
Vijf verenigingen nemen deel aan deze tijdelijke bezetting, die deel uitmaakt van het ontwikkelingsprogramma van het Brussels Gewest en gericht is op de ontwikkeling van het westelijke gebied van de hoofdstad. Een oud pakhuis van het stadhuis wordt omgevormd om projecten met een sociaal-cultureel profiel in dialoog met de gemeenschap te huisvesten.

The association was selected in a call by the Brussels Region in partnership with the Commune of Ixelles. The region’s development program relied on the ULB/VUB universities – whose territory had the objective of integrating diverse actors and local communities with a focus on art, culture, environment and technology.
