A new space for collaborating and sharing | Un nouvel espace de collaboration et de partage | Een nieuwe ruimte om samen te werken en te delen
Invited by the Curieus network, we integrated the communal building of Mollenbeek, located at 97, rue Jean-Baptiste Decock.
The former deposit of the commune is part of a process of transition and temporary occupation of the neighborhood around the West Park.
The five associations that integrate the space are Curieus Network (NL), Dallas Collective, Carre & Co, Samen Voor Morgen and Espirito Mundo.
With diverse characteristics and expertise, all are involved in activating the local community through socio-cultural-environmental projects. The idea is to add value to the surroundings and work for social cohesion in the various tools and activities.
The works are in full process for the remodeling of the space and adequacy to the activities that will welcome the public in general.
The construction is also done in a collaborative way with the members of the occupation and is specially oriented by the Dallas Collective, formed by young architects, also belonging to the former “SeeU” occupation, where they were responsible for the construction of the velodrome.
The inauguration of the space is planned for the end of October with activities performed by all occupants in parallel. The occupation does not yet have a name or identity, which will be defined with the participation of the public as well.

Invités par le réseau Curieus, nous avons intégré le bâtiment communal de Mollenbeek, situé au 97, rue Jean-Baptiste Decock.
L’ancien dépôt de la commune s’inscrit dans un processus de transition et d’occupation temporaire du quartier autour du Parc de l’Ouest.
Les cinq associations qui intègrent l’espace sont Curieus Network (NL), Dallas Collective, Carre & Co, Samen Voor Margen et Espirito Mundo.
Avec des caractéristiques et une expertise diverses, toutes sont impliquées dans l’activation de la communauté locale par le biais de projets socioculturels et environnementaux. L’idée est d’apporter une valeur ajoutée à l’environnement et d’œuvrer à la cohésion sociale au moyen de divers outils et activités.
Les travaux sont en plein processus pour le remodelage de l’espace et l’adéquation aux activités qui accueilleront le public en général.
La construction est également réalisée en collaboration avec les membres de l’occupation et est spécialement orientée par le collectif Dallas, formé par de jeunes architectes, appartenant également à l’ancienne occupation “SeeU”, où ils étaient responsables de la construction du vélodrome.
L’inauguration de l’espace est prévue pour la fin du mois d’octobre avec des activités réalisées par tous les occupants en parallèle. L’occupation n’a pas encore de nom ni d’identité, qui seront définis avec la participation du public également.

Op uitnodiging van het Curieus-netwerk zijn we binnengegaan in het gemeentehuis van Mollenbeek, gelegen aan de Jean-Baptiste Decockstraat 97.
Het voormalige gemeente pakhuis maakt deel uit van een overgangsproces en tijdelijke bewoning van de wijk rond het West Park.
De vijf verenigingen die gebruik maken van de ruimte zijn Curieus Network (NL), Dallas Collective, Carre & Co, Samen Voor Margen en Espirito Mundo.
Met hun uiteenlopende kenmerken en deskundigheid zijn zij allen betrokken bij de activering van de plaatselijke gemeenschap door middel van sociaal-culturele en milieuprojecten. Het is de bedoeling om door middel van verschillende instrumenten en activiteiten waarde toe te voegen aan het milieu en te werken aan sociale cohesie.
De werkzaamheden zijn in volle gang om de ruimte te verbouwen en geschikt te maken voor de activiteiten die het grote publiek zal verwelkomen.
De bouw geschiedt eveneens in samenwerking met de leden van de bezetting en wordt in het bijzonder begeleid door het collectief Dallas, dat bestaat uit jonge architecten die ook deel uitmaakten van de voormalige bezetting “SeeU”, waar zij verantwoordelijk waren voor de bouw van de velodrome.
De opening van de ruimte is gepland voor eind oktober, met gelijktijdige activiteiten van alle bewoners. De bezetting heeft nog geen naam of identiteit, die ook met medewerking van het publiek zal worden vastgesteld.
